Assisting Community Organizations to Improve Accessibility

A staff member at a church in New Jersey called the Northeast ADA Center’s TA line to learn about the requirements for the design of accessible parking spaces in her church’s parking lot, as they were in the process of restriping the lot.  Our TA expert explained the requirement regarding the number of accessible parking spaces based on the lot size, the size of the spaces and access aisles, and their proximity to the entrance. The church also wanted information about the New Jersey Penalty Sign language needed at the spaces.  With this information in hand, the church ultimately incorporated our recommendations for the design of the accessible spaces into the project.
