Description:

What's the Deal with disABILITIES: Celebrates 30 Years of the ADA with the Triangle in North Carolina. Do you REALLY know what’s it's like living with a disability? President George H.W. Bush signed the American with Disabilities Act 30 years ago to make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else in all areas of life. This includes jobs, schools, transportation, and access to all public and private places that are open to the general public. Why was it needed and what effect did it have? We've gathered some amazing trailblazers who are living and working with various disabilities. Hear their stories and learn how you can support them as colleagues, neighbors, and people in your community! This FREE virtual event is proudly brought to you by a partnership between LCI Tech, LCI, Wake County Economic Development, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the City of Raleigh Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities, Capital Area Workforce Development Board, Walk West, The Diversity Movement, Baering, and the NC Council on Developmental Disabilities. To be inclusive of everyone, please let us know what kind of accommodations you may need to attend our virtual event. You'll be asked to describe your requests in the registration form.
