Elevating Inclusion Through Intersectionality: Making Programs and Places Accessible for Disabled LGBTQIA+ Folks

Event Date/Time:

Wednesday, June 26th, 2024
2:00 PM EDT - 3:30 PM EDT

Location:

Virtual

Description:

Pride Month isn’t just about celebrating LGBTQIA+ identities – it’s a call to action. Recognizing the intersectionality within social justice movements is the first step toward supporting and advancing equity for people who are marginalized due to race, gender, disability, or other factors.

In the U.S., around 3 to 5 million LGBTQIA+ individuals live with disabilities, facing unique challenges and barriers to inclusion. Ensuring accessibility – physical, mental, or social – is critical to creating spaces where everyone can thrive. By addressing the needs of disabled LGBTQIA+ individuals, we strengthen the fight for disability rights and make our events and spaces genuinely inclusive and welcoming for all.
