This webinar will cover several aspects of disaster response from the perspective of the American Red Cross during the COVID-19 pandemic including preparation and guidance development for disaster response, the strategy for non-congregate sheltering and the challenges of this strategy. In addition, worker safety and workforce care protocols will be shared. Lessons learned from recent disasters will be covered to inform attendees of the changes for disaster response going forward.

Learning objectives:

  • Attendees will increase their knowledge of the disaster response environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Attendees will be informed of the American Red Cross disaster response changes and workforce care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presenters:

Mary Casey-Lockyer, MHS, BSN, RN, CCRN is the lead for Disaster Health Services at national headquarters for the American Red Cross. She has deployed to 20 disaster relief operations and she is currently assigned as the Senior Medical Advisor to National Disaster Operations for the Red Cross. Mary serves as the Red Cross liaison to the Secretary of Operation Center at the Department of Health and Human Services.
