Description:

Members of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) will meet Tuesday July 28, 2015 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and explore ways to make voting more accessible for individuals with disabilities. The Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002 mandates that individuals with disabilities be given the same opportunity to vote freely and independently as other voters. Commissioners will hear testimony from accessibility advocates, experts, and individuals with disabilities regarding the progress made since the passage of HAVA and the work still to be done. Commissioners will consider a Resolution reaffirming its mandate and commitment under HAVA to equal participation in elections. The meeting will be webcast live and an on-demand archived version will be posted within 24-hours.
