The “Ability Walk and Roll” exists to highlight the abilities of people with disabilities, as we celebrate the 33nd Anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The ADA provides people with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in all services, programs and activities. We hope you can join us for this event to be held: Wednesday, July 26, 2023| 5PM – 7PM Walnut Hill Park in New Britain, CT Rain Date: Wednesday, August 2, 2023 The Ability Walk & Roll is created for individuals of all ability levels. The festivities begin with the reading of an ADA Proclamation from Mayor Erin E. Stewart and sponsor awards presentation. Then begins a one mile walk/roll around beautiful Walnut Hill Park. We encourage persons with disabilities, their families, friends, caregivers, and the community to participate with us. All participants receive a FREE t-shirt, refreshments and raffle tickets. Prizes for best decorated wheels (wheelchairs, scooters, bikes, etc.) are given. There is entertainment for children. Throughout the event, guests can engage with people from over 50 information booths which include state and federal programs, nonprofits and a variety of vendors displaying products and services for persons with disabilities ranging from services for children with Autism to resources for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s. Immediately following, “Timmy Maia Experience” will perform on the Darius Miller Music Shell as part of New Britain's Summer Concert Series.
