If you’ve missed the chance to have a question answered in other Board webinars, this session is for you. Session participants are requested to submit questions in advance on the 2010 ADA Accessibility Standard, the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard, Section 508, Medical Diagnostic Equipment or other Board rulemakings or activities. Accessibility specialists will answer questions submitted in advance during the first half of the session, leaving time in the second half to answer questions in the live session.

Accessible fire alarm systems are required where systems provide audible coverage under the ADA and the ABA. These systems are required to comply with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 72. A representative from NFPA will provide an overview of the requirements contained in NRPA 72 including specific criteria for visible alarms such as flash frequency, color, intensity, placement, and synchronization.

Sometimes "the basics" are not enough to get your PDF fully accessible. This session will look at the Table and Form Editors, changing reading order for assistive devices, and new features in Acrobat XI. Participants should have a basic understanding of accessible PDF principles such as tagging and navigational structure.

How to activate and use the Form Editor to add Tool Tips to form objects
How to use the Tags Panel to change reading order for assistive technology

This presentation will provide an update on US policy regarding accessible information and communication technology (ICT). It will cover the current status and activities of major policy initiatives, largely in the federal arena, such as Section 255, Section 508, Section 503, Communication and Video Accessibility Act, and the ADA. It will include information that will let attendees participate in making policy through public comment processes.

Attendees will understand the current status of laws, regulations, and other policy initiatives that create a mandate for accessible ICT.

The secret to creating accessible PDFs is to build accessibility into the source information, well before the final PFD is created. This session will look at how to prepare your source documents, such as Word, Excel, or Powerpoint so that the requirements for an accessible PDF are built-in from the ground up. We will discuss the correct use of styles and structured markup, as well as other elements such as images and graphs when planning for accessibility

Understand the concepts of styles and structured markup in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
How to use and apply styles and structure to Word and PowerPoint documents
How to set accessibility options in PDF convertors, such as Adobe Acrobat

Mark the 23rd anniversary of the ADA by joining this audio conference as we listen to representatives of the EEOC and DOJ present an update on their litigation, technical assistance and enforcement efforts over the past year. Join this session to learn more about what gave rise to the changes in Section 503 and get current data on the status of people with disabilities and employment. The presenters will provide an overview of the final guidelines and discuss the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA) and how understanding the ADAAA is critical to compliance with the new guidelines. Dilemmas regarding implementation will be discussed (i.e. collecting disability data, etc.) as well as tips on what employers need to do, including, but not limited to, making changes in their systems and practices. Resources to assist with compliance will be provided.
