123rd Annual Conference: Recharge! Your Creativity, Your Library, Your Career, CT

Description: 

The 123rd Annual Conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell, CT on April 28th and 29th, 2014.  We have a full line up of great programs this year, including sessions on Makerspaces, professional development, and dealing with the Common Core.  Authors, Chris Bohjalian, Jon Katz, Siva Vaidhyanathan, and Okey Ndibe will all be giving talks. We are also excited to have delicious, hot buffets on both days as well as expanded seating for lunch.

We have two excellent keynote speakers this year. 

Siva Vaidhyanathan, author of The Googlization of Everything and Why We Should Worry and The Anarchist in the Library will be kicking off the Conference on Monday, April 28th at 9:00. 

Renee Hobbs, Founding Director of the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island, and recognized authority on media literacy education, is the featured speaker on Tuesday, April 29th at 10:30. Co-sponsored by the Association of Connecticut Library Boards.

  

 

Conference Registration is open! How to Register
- Registration is now open. CLA Members should log in with their username and password to receive conference member rates.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, or check as payment. If paying by check, please be advised that your registration will not be completed until payment is received. All payments must be received no less than 3 business days before the conference. Payments for “Early Bird” registrations, including checks, MUST be received by the early rate deadline of March 31, 2014 in order to qualify for the lower rate. You will be notified via email when your check is received and your registration is processed. 
 

We suggest using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer for registration.  We have experienced some difficulties with registration when using Google Chrome.

Lunch is included in the registration rate.

Early Bird Rates - Through March 31st
CLA Member: $105 (one day) / $190 (two days)
Students, Unemployed, or Retired*: $75 (one day) / $135  (two days)
Non-Member: $140 (one day) / $280 (two days)

Rates - After March 31st
One & Two-Day Rates, including registration at the door:
CLA Member: $140 (one day) / $250 (two days) 
Non-Member: $175 (one day) / $330 (two days)

* Students, Unemployed, or Retired must be CLA members to register at the reduced rate. This rate also requires a 2-hour volunteer commitment per day.  This rate is only available through the Early Bird period, which ends on March 31st.

If registering at the door, payment in full is required.

The conference room rate is $109/night. You can call the Crowne Plaza's reservation line at 860-635-2000 and mention the group name or you can use the Hotel Reservation Link.

Directions & Parking
The Crowne Plaza Hotel is at 100 Berlin Road, in Cromwell, Connecticut  and just off exit 21 on I-91. Map and more detailed directions are available on their online map. All CLA Conference attendees can park for FREE in hotel parking lots.
