About the ADA

ADA Amendments Act of 2008

On September 25, 2008, the President signed the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 ("ADA Amendments Act" or "Act"). The Act changes definition of disability by rejecting several Supreme Court decisions that narrowed the definition of disability. With the ADAAA Congress intends the ADA to cover a broad range of individuals that have been discriminated against because of disability. It became law on January 1st of 2009.
